Medford, OR. Get ready to hear the roar – and highlight announcements – as the US Air Force flies over the 5th annual Disaster-Emergency Preparedness & Safety Fair on Saturday, September 14th, from 10 am – 2 pm at the Rogue Valley Mall. This fair is the most comprehensive preparedness event in Southern Oregon, provided by a collaboration of 50 local, state, and government agencies, non-profits, and volunteer-based emergency services. It is the place for everyone to learn preparedness for every season and every reason.

The ‘DEPS’ Fair has doubled in size this year with 50 preparedness exhibitors, safety speakers, a new Kid’s STEM SAFETY ZONE, the American Red Cross Pillowcase Project, a Passport to Prizes program, live entertainment, free raffles, mall shuttle services, tours of the Mercy Flights Helicopter and emergency vehicles, and a VERY SPECIAL GUEST, Smokey Bear! Smokey Bear is 75 this year, and his birthday party starts in the Kid’s STEM Safety Zone at 1 pm.

(Smokey Bear trivia… he doesn’t get out around here too oen, so his visit is a big deal! His real name is “Smokey Bear”, not “Smokey the Bear”. Who knew?!)

In addition, as September is National Preparedness Month, all K-12 school Principals in Southern Oregon have been provided engaging assignments to encourage student and family attendance. There’s plenty to do for K-12 students with the American Red Cross Pillowcase Project, applying science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) to safety, career exploration, and more.

The event is FREE!
