The largest Tech Company Open House in Oregon, is in Eugene
The regions tech and tech enabled companies open their doors to the public Oct 3rd.
EUGENE, Ore., Sept. 19, 2019 – job seekers, technology enthusiasts, and students will get a rare opportunity to tour tech companies in downtown Eugene on October 3rd. Together, nearly fifty tech and tech enabled companies will open their offices to the public, show off their work, and recruit top talent to fill 234 current job openings. Tickets for the tour are on sale now.
Greater Eugene is home to 471 tech companies, with clusters of firms specializing in educational technology, video game development, and cyber security. All three of those industry clusters, and more, are represented in this year’s Tech Tour.
Tour highlights include Arcimoto, featuring their newly released Evergreen Edition Fun Utility Vehicle. Video game studio Pipeworks, makers of games like Terraria, who is joining with neighbors Inseego and Nulia in an Oktoberfest themed open houses. Two newly renovated downtown Eugene buildings will also be open to the public for the very first time – Tyndale Advisors at 1 East Broadway, as well as Wayfair and Bitcork with a pop-up presence at 1235 Willamette Street.
In partnership with the University of Oregon, the Tech Tour event date has moved to October 3rd to align with the beginning of the academic year, making the local tech industry more accessible than ever to local students.
“The Tech Tour is a win-win event, connecting industry to the rich talent pool here in Eugene. University of Oregon students bring energy and specialized skills that will, undoubtedly, enrich work places across the state,” shared Tina Gulberg, Senior Director, Industry Partnerships at UO.
The Eugene Tech Tour is organized by the Technology Association of Oregon, a members based not-for-profit that aims to grow the tech industry in the state of Oregon and to establish the Pacific Northwest as a global hub for innovation.
The Eugene Tech Tour registration and check in will open at 4PM at Kesey Square with live music from local band Upstate Trio. Opening ceremonies will kick off at 5pm with an address from Eugene Mayor Lucy Vinis and Lane Workforce Partnership Director, Kristina Payne. The tour is open from 5:30 to 8 pm, registered event participants will be able to tour nearly fifty local tech companies. Then everyone comes together for an after-party at 8pm at Level-Up Arcade.
